Fireproof File Cabinets

We've recently been considering making an investment on a fireproof file cabinet. I won't tell you which one I think is the best because they all pretty much serve the same purpose (and are all pretty expensive). I will share with you how a fireproof cabinet has more uses than you think and why you may want to consider purchasing one too.

While many businesses are using fireproof file cabinets to keep their documents safe, I've recently realized why we, as consumers, may also want to get one to protect our important items too. They're not as attractive as say, mahogany chest of drawers, but they are pretty much guaranteed to keep your items safe and can be kept in an area that doesn't have to been seen by everyone.

Getting a fireproof file cabinet may be a wise investment in the protection of your documents. I'm talking personal documents and information like your Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Social Security Card, etc. God forbid you ever experience a fire, you could lose all of these important documents. And without each of them to support each other in can be a huge hassle to replace any of the above documents if one or a few of them gets destroyed or lost.

Other important items you can keep in a fireproof file cabinet are irreplaceable items like pictures. I currently have pictures all over the place of myself, family, loved ones, events, places, and more. I have two large plastic totes with photo albums of photos AND I have pictures stored on an external hard drive totaling about 250 GB in space!

Unfortunately, I've recently suffered the loss of losing a few months worth of pictures. It's the worst because pictures (other than the image you remember) are some of the best ways to remember important people or times in our lives.

From my understanding, you can't rely on fireproof file cabinets to keep you safe from a burglary. But you can rely on one to keep your irreplaceable items safe and protected in a fire.

Would you consider getting a Fireproof File Cabinet?

  • Absolutely, next on my BIG spending list ;-) I have to protect my documents.
  • Possibly, I can see the value.
  • Heck no, they're too expensive!
