Just released Tuesday, February 12, 2008 - this game is already flying off retail store shelves and is hard to find everywhere! Featuring the popular character, Diego, from Nickelodeon's hit TV show, Go Diego Go!, this video game is loaded with action packed fun for preschoolers and their families! While creation and game play was developed for preschoolers and kindergarten age children, all members of the family can enjoy the interactive playing features of Safari Rescue.

If you're interested in other Wii games for your toddler, we have a great list put together of the games our toddlers enjoyed the most.

The story behind the game is very childlike - there is a magician who is casting spells on the animals of the Serengeti by mixing up their stripes, turning them into rocks, changing their features, and more. The child, or game player, has to take the role of Diego, Alicia, Baby Jaguar, Juma and Erin the Elephant and attempt to undo the Magician's spells and damage by finding and using a Magic Drum.

The interactive game play is really a lot of fun. While racing across the African savannas trying to save the animals, an animal icon appears in the lower left corner of the screen demonstrating which needed action to perform. Gamers can have fun performing many realistic actions using the Wii remotes, like:

  • stomping to scare away lions
  • jumping with Baby Jaguar
  • painting stripes on zebras
  • climbing up ladders
  • swimming across the jungle river
  • pumping up and down to blow up a hot air balloon

Parents and/or older siblings can participate in the game with their children by using the Safari Guide Helper Feature and a second Wii Remote. Above mentioned actions are enhanced or sped up with the help of parent or another assistant.

In addition to the realistic actions performed, gamers also learn interesting facts about the different animals; they can even collect stamps and photos to add to the African Safari Book.

Gameplay modes include story, multiplayer/co-op (2 players), arcade, and mini-games.
