There are quite a few different games out for the XBox Kinect. The most popular of the Kinect Games seems to be Dance Central, Kinect Adventures and Kinect Sports. Below you will find a review of each game. Please keep in mind each game requires the Kinect Sensor in order to play.

Kinect Adventures Rally Ball Demo

Kinect Adventures

This game is listed first only because it's the game that comes with the system and/or Kinect Sensor as a default.

One thing I've realized I'm not crazy about with the Kinect games is so far you can only play with 2 players at once (or co-op for multi-player games). I guess it makes sense that the Kinect Sensor can only pick up two people at once. Hoping Microsoft will expand the co-op play to four players in the near future...

Kinect Adventures is a 2 player co-op game and it can go from just standing to very active. You can actually break a sweat and get your heart racing! One of our favorite games is the one with the balls (Rally Ball) where you have to use your whole body and hit the balls to bash them through the wall.

As a "freebie" game, it does do an ok job with highlighting some of what you can do with the Kinect. But the following games are actually our faves:

Motion Sports Kinect

Kinect Sports
Amazon Price: $24.99
List Price: $49.99
Kinect Sports Season Two
Amazon Price: $34.53

Kinect Sports Review

Kinect Sports

Kinect Sports I would say has to take first place as the best Kinect Games. It really is a lot of fun and it's seriously a great work out. I pulled a muscle one of the first days playing it!

Kinect Sports is also two player co-op and it seems very realistic and offers a lot of different sports for you to play from Bowling to Volleyball to Soccer and much more (it's very similar to Wii Sports, but - sad to say - better)!

You physically have to run, jump, throw, kick and a lot more. The sensors really do sense how you move, I thought it was hilarious that you can dance and do funny moves and your Kinect Avatar (person) copies it. We lean more towards liking the co-op games vs the one player games. Volleyball, Bowling, Table Tennis and Boxing are our personal favorites.

Just like all the XBox Kinect games, the highlights are the funniest and best part and we like that you can share them with others if you're connected to the net. Check out the video review to the right to see more.

Kinect: Dance Central Full Motion Preview with Jessica Chobot

Dance Central

Dance Central can almost tie for first place as the best Kinect Game. The only reason I rate it as a runner up is because it seems more people would feel more comfortable and enjoy doing the sports activities vs dancing. However, if you love dancing, you'll most likely love Dance Central. And if you're shy about dancing in front of others - you're going to have to get over it with this game. It really is all about fun (unless you're playing with immature jerks)!

Some of the moves really are kind of cheesy, but overall I feel like the game can help you actually improve your dancing while having fun. I learned a few new and old school moves when playing with the family, as well as fell over laughing several times. The sensor lets you know when you're doing a good job (or blowing it) and the screen shots are hilarious (unless you're a super serious dancer).

You can purchase additional songs through Microsoft...Word is there's a Dance Central 2 coming out and you can actually play theses songs on the new version as well. (Check out the Dance Central Song List). So you can't really get bored with a routine.

If you're playing with friends and over 21, this is a great game to play with some drinks. Cheers!

Update 2011: Now that Dance Central 2 has come out, we enjoy playing this game at home and our toddler has become a fan of the Kinect as well.
